‘Fall on us’, ‘Cover us’
Those who don’t know Jesus are going to want to crawl under a rock according to what Jesus predicted as He was carrying the cross to Golgotha.
Luke 23:27-31
And a great multitude of the people followed Him, and women who also mourned and lamented Him. But Jesus turning to them said,
“Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts which never nursed!’ Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us’, ‘Cover us’. For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”
(He quoted from Hosea Chapter 10 pointing to the past prophecies about Him in the Old Testament and future prophecies written by the apostle John in Revelation 6:16 in the New Testament about His glorious return.)
Hosea 10:3 “For now they say we have no king, because we did not fear the Lord, and as for a king, what would he do for us?”
Hosea 10:8“They shall say to the mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills “Fall on us!”
Hosea 12:12
“Sow for yourself righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.”
Hosea 10:13“You have plowed wickedness; you have reaped iniquity. You have eaten the fruit of lies, because you trusted in your own way.”
Hosea 10:15“At the dawn the king of Israel shall be cut off utterly.” (cut off is an expression of death)
Revelation 6:16Calling to the mountains and rocks
“Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!”
